I wonder how many beautiful moments I've rushed past without even realizing they were there.
Not because they weren't important.
But because I was busy thinking about the next thing.
The next project at Lotus Hill.
The next errand.
My next session.
The next email.
The next deadline.
Somewhere along the way, life quietly taught us that bigger is better.
That more is the goal.
That happiness comes after we accomplish one more thing.
That someday we'll finally slow down enough to enjoy it all.
But what if "someday" isn't where life is happening?
What if it's this morning?
What if it's in the little things we tend to look past?
The birds singing outside my window.
The sunlight spilling across the kitchen floor.
Fresh flowers sitting on the counter this morning that I brought home from my nieces shower that reminds me of family.
The laughter of my grandkids as they try to catch chickens.
The smell of bread baking.
The sound and smell of rain.
Finding a heart rock that reminds me of my brother gone to soon.
None of those moments will ever make the news.
No one will applaud them.
No one will hand us an award for noticing them.
And yet...
Those are the moments that quietly become a beautiful life.
I don't think we're looking for a perfect life.
I think we're simply looking for one that feels full.
Maybe that's why I started this little corner of the internet.
Not to convince you that life is always beautiful.
It isn't.
There will be seasons of loss.
Days that feel impossibly heavy.
Times we doubt ourselves and wonder if we are "enough".
Moments when simply getting through the day is enough.
But even then...
Beauty has a quiet way of showing up.
Sometimes it's found in a neighbor who checks in and borrows us an air conditioner.
Sometimes it's the first deep breath you've taken all day.
Sometimes it's simply knowing tomorrow brings another chance.
I hope this becomes a place where we slow down together.
Where we celebrate ordinary things.
Where we find joy in homes that aren't perfect.
Where simple recipes become family traditions.
Where flowers on the kitchen table matter.
Where quiet encouragement is never in short supply.
And where we remember that a beautiful life isn't built in grand moments.
It's built one ordinary day at a time.
The older I get, the more I am realizing that it is the little things, the small moments that really matter to my joy. I am learning to stop and take notice, to breathe it in and to allow myself the time to soak it in.
My challenge to you today... is to stop now and then. Take a deep breathe and just "be" in that moment. Let the big things go... and notice the small things.
Thank you for being here.
I'm so glad you stopped by.
I hope you find the beauty in today.
